Amie Doepking, school counselor at Hooper Elementary, has been awarded the prestigious "Counselor of the Year" award by the Utah School Counselors Association. The award recognizes Doepking's exceptional dedication to students, parents, and staff, and her tireless efforts in creating a positive and supportive school environment.
"Amy is truly remarkable," shared Principal Kari Breeding. "She has an incredible ability to build strong relationships with everyone – students, parents, and staff alike. She's a true child advocate, always working tirelessly to ensure every child feels supported and has the tools they need to succeed."
Doepking's compassionate nature and genuine care for students are evident in the words of her colleagues and students. "She's full of warmth and kindness," Ashley Droscher remarked. "She's always there for the kids, offering a listening ear and helping them navigate challenges."
Students also expressed their admiration for Doepking. "She helps us with our emotions," shared one student. "She helps us help other children who need help, and she helps all the people in the school."
Doepking's impact extends beyond individual counseling. She is a passionate leader of the school's Hope Squad, a student-led group that promotes positive mental health and creates a welcoming atmosphere for all students.
"She's such a great Hope Squad leader," a student shared. "We do presentations and help other people learn about friendship and how to be kind."
The award is a testament to Doepking's unwavering dedication and the profound positive impact she has on the lives of the students at Hooper Elementary. "Amy goes above and beyond every time," said Droscher. "She's authentic and truly loves helping kids. She's always kind and makes them feel at ease."
