The Weber School District proudly announces Mandy Mortensen as the recipient of the Extra Mile Award, recognizing her exceptional contributions as a purchasing buyer. Mandy's dedication and tireless efforts have earned her high praise from colleagues and administrators, particularly for her work equipping the district's new schools.

"This award is so well-deserved," said Larry Hadley, Executive Director of Operations. "She's just done a top-notch job above and beyond, where I just had one point of contact. She's been phenomenal."

Emily Oyler, Executive Director of the Weber School District Foundation, shared similar sentiments. "It is a delight working with Mandy. She is so easy to be around. She's really good at her job. She knows all of the products...She truly knows her stuff. She works really hard and she is always available when you need her. She's wonderful to work with." Oyler also recounted a specific instance: "I called Mandy when we were getting ready to purchase furniture and Mandy schedules with the vendor. She knew the colors and the finishes as well as the people working for the vendors. I mean, it was really amazing. She made it so much easier."

Dax Teuscher, a purchasing agent and Mandy's colleague, commented, "She's awesome. She helps out with the team, and she does a great job. She's motivated to get things done and make sure that she helps the schools and what they need. She's always in a good mood, and is always delightful to be around."

Mike Martini, Principal of West Field High, emphasized the complexity of furnishing a new building. "It's a huge process. Takes a lot of meetings and a lot of design. Making sure everything matches, making sure everything works, what's best for kids and their learning. And Mandy, we couldn't have done it without Mandy. She was outstanding, and everything she did from working with the company and then helping us out."

Cody McPherson, Media Services Administrative Assistant, explained, "Mandy has done a lot for us. We've started lots of projects in the schools and the libraries, and she's always down here the next day helping us, planning everything that we need. She's always a positive person to be around, and it's always a great experience with her."

A nomination letter from Mary Jo Williams, Director of Elementary Education, and Kirt Swalberg, Assistant Director of Elementary Education, further highlighted Mandy's contributions. "Mandy consistently goes above and beyond her role, ensuring that the district's purchasing needs are met with efficiency and precision," they wrote. They also shared an experience: "The day before opening Haven Bay, Mandy was there arranging furniture, decorating the office and cleaning. She was pitching in with whatever was needed. This is just one example of Mandy going above and beyond to ensure that everything was ready for students to arrive." The letter concluded, "Mandy Mortensen embodies the spirit of going the extra mile, making a tangible difference within our district and exemplifying the highest standards of service. It is with great enthusiasm that we recommend her for this well-deserved recognition."

For Mandy, her job isn't just about furniture; it is about creating spaces where students can learn, grow, and thrive. And Mandy Mortensen goes the extra mile to make that happen. Congratulations, Mandy, on this well-deserved award!
