Haven Bay Ribbon Cutting

West Haven, UT – On December 3, 2024, the Haven Bay Elementary community gathered to celebrate the dedication and ribbon cutting of the district’s newest elementary school. The ceremony, held in the school’s gymnasium, marked the culmination of months of planning and construction for a facility designed to serve the growing community of West Haven.

Principal Justin Skeen welcomed attendees, emphasizing the strong community support that brought this project to fruition. “This is a night we’ve been looking forward to for quite some time,” he remarked. “It’s a memorable moment for our families, and one we’ll never forget.”

The event featured a variety of speakers, including Superintendent Gina Butters, Weber School Board President Paul Widdison, and sixth-grade students Summer Lubben and Jaxon Landis. These speakers highlighted the school’s mission to empower students through a collaborative and caring learning environment. “Haven Bay Herons SOAR by being Safe, On-task, Accountable, and Respectful,” stated Landis, referencing the school’s PBIS motto.

Construction leaders and contributors were also recognized during the ceremony. Executive Director of Facilities Larry Hadley acknowledged the efforts of MHTN Architects and Westland Construction, whose teams worked diligently to complete the state-of-the-art facility. “This building represents years of planning and collaboration,” Hadley said. “It will serve as a cornerstone for the community for generations.”

Students played a significant role in the celebration, leading the Pledge of Allegiance and sharing reflections on their new school. Summer Lubben spoke on behalf of her peers, expressing gratitude for the opportunities provided by Haven Bay Elementary. “This isn’t just a beautiful school; it’s a place where we can grow together as a community.”

Following the remarks, a ribbon cutting officially opened the school to the public. Guests were invited to tour the facility, which features innovative classroom designs, dedicated grade-level pods, and a welcoming library space. PTA volunteers hosted merchandise tables, while student greeters helped guide visitors through the halls.

Haven Bay Elementary stands as a symbol of growth and opportunity, built on the foundation of community support. As Superintendent Butters aptly stated, “This school is all about the kids—it’s for them, and it’s because of them.”
