What a way to kick off summer! 🐾⚾

Our annual 6th Grade vs. Teachers kickball game was one for the books! The teachers may have secured the 21-3 win (thanks to some epic home runs by Josh, Mrs. Foy, and Mrs. Wiser!), but our 6th graders showed incredible heart and hustle until the very last out. From the Panther mascot getting on base to our favorite janitor, Josh, making a snag in the outfield, the energy was unmatched.
As the high-fives faded and the school year officially came to a close, there were plenty of smiles (and some very sore teachers!). We are so proud of our students and want to wish everyone a safe, fun, and relaxing summer break. Congratulations to our promoting 6th graders you'll always be Panthers! See the rest of you in the fall! 💙🖤🤍

🐾 PAWS-itively Amazing Year, Panthers! 🐾

W - Work and Play Safely

S - Show Respect

Miss G, our amazing school counselor, has been busy all year collecting those blue and white tickets, and today we finally handed out the big rewards! 🏆

🌟 Today’s Highlights:
The Leaderboard: Shoutout to our Top 3 Overall Students who went above and beyond with their ticket totals!

Grade Level Legends: We celebrated the top point-earners from every grade—Kindergarten through 6th!

Teacher’s Choice: A special round of applause for those nominated by their teachers for consistently showing top-tier behavior in the classroom.

Milestone Winners: High fives to everyone in the 25-29 and 20-24 ticket clubs!

We are so proud of the culture of kindness and respect our students have built this year. From the playground to the lunchroom, you’ve shown us that PAWS Plain City is the BEST! 💙🖤

🏴‍☠️ Ahoy, Panther Nation!
With so many fun activities going on at the end of this school year right now at Plain City Elementary, this one is truly a treasure! Talk about taking learning to the next level! Around here, our educators don’t just teach from books they build entire worlds. 🛠️✨

This week, one of our incredible specialists turned an ordinary classroom into the high seas by building a literal homemade pirate ship for our students! ⚓️🦜

Our Panthers got to step away from their desks and climb aboard for a fully immersive learning experience. From practicing team building and vocabulary to mastering new skills through creative challenges, our students were completely captivated by the voyage.

We are so grateful for a staff that goes above and beyond to make learning an unforgettable adventure.

Drop a 💙 or a 🖤 in the comments to give a massive shout out to our amazing teachers and specialists who bring this kind of magic to school every day!

🐾 Once a Panther, Always a Panther! 🐾
It’s with a mix of heavy hearts and excited cheers that we announce some big transitions for our Plain City Elementary family next year. While we are sad to see these amazing leaders and educators go, we are so grateful for the paw-print they’ve left on our school! 💙🖤🤍

🍎 Happy Retirement, Mrs. Smith!
After years of sparking a love for learning in our 1st Grade classrooms, Shauna Smith is officially hanging up her teaching whistle and entering retirement! Thank you, Mrs. Smith, for being the foundation of so many students' success. Your kindness and patience have shaped our youngest Panthers in ways we can’t measure.

🏔️ New Adventures for Mrs. Elliott
Our fearless leader and Principal, Sherilynn Elliott, will be moving to Orchard Springs next year. Mrs. Elliott has led our school with such heart, vision, and Panther Pride. We know Orchard Springs is lucky to have her, but she will be missed immensely here in Plain City!

✨ Good Luck, Mrs. Pulsipher
Our wonderful Administrative Intern, Belen Pulsipher, will be continuing her leadership journey at a new school next year. Belen has been such a bright light in our front office and hallways, always ready to help a student or staff member with a smile.

To our departing staff: Thank you for your dedication to the Blue, Black, and White. You’ve helped make Plain City Elementary the incredible place it is today. You’ll always have a home here!

Swipe to see just how much our staff is going to miss this incredible trio, there wasn't a dry eye or smile in the faculty meeting! 😭💙

The hallways of Plain City Elementary were filled with cheers, high-fives, and a few happy tears this week as we welcomed back the Class of 2026 from Fremont and West Field High School for our annual Grad Walk! 🌟

Our former Panthers walked the halls in their caps and gowns to the sound of the graduation song, thanking the educators who helped them get here and showing our current students what hard work can achieve.

Thank you for being such an incredible example to our future graduates. We are so proud of you! 💙🤍🖤

**The end of an era at Plain City Elementary!** 🐾💙

Today we celebrate the legendary **Shauna Smith**, who is retiring after years of incredible service to our school and community. Shauna’s Panther roots run deep—she attended PCE as a student, sent her kids here, and even her grandkids!

As a powerhouse on our First Grade team, Shauna kept us all on schedule and filled our halls with laughter. We’re going to miss her amazing creativity, her hilarious Christmas assembly skits, and her iconic Dr. Seuss costumes. (Is it even Read Across America without her Cat in the Hat outfit?! )

Shauna, thank you for molding so many young minds and being the heart of our school for so long. We are sad to see you go but so excited for you to start this relaxing new chapter!

**Drop a 💙 in the comments to wish Mrs. Smith a happy retirement!**

🐾 Panther Pride: Sixth Grade Lego Challenge! ☀️
Our Sixth Grade Panthers in Mrs. Clark’s class took a break from the books today to dive into a high-stakes, high-creativity Summer Lego Challenge! 🧱🏝️

From beach scenes to backyard bashes, these students showed off some incredible engineering skills and teamwork. It wasn't easy to pick a winner, but our guest judges—Mr. Rhees and Mrs. Skeem—took their jobs very seriously as they evaluated every build.

🏆 And the Winner Is...
A huge shoutout to the winning team! Their summer creation featuring the iconic pink flamingo took home the top prize. Check out their masterpiece! 🦩✨

We love seeing our students use their imagination and problem-solving skills in such a fun way. Way to go, Mrs. Clark's class!

🦁🎨 First Grade Artists at Work! 🐢🌿

Our amazing first graders got their hands a little messy (and a LOT creative!) as they sculpted their very own clay animals in art class with Mrs. Hibbert! 🐘🦊🐍

But the fun didn’t stop there… they brought their animals to life by designing and building the perfect habitats! From jungles and oceans to deserts and forests, these young artists used their imaginations to create homes where their animals can thrive. 🌊🌴🏜️

We are so proud of their creativity, hard work, and attention to detail. Be sure to ask your student all about their animal and where it lives—you might learn something new! 🧠💬

Our second graders were all smiles as they hopped on the bus for their bowling field trip! 🚌🎳 The excitement started the moment they found their seats and chatted with friends all the way to the alley.

Once the bowling shoes were on, it was game time! There were cheers for every strike, high-fives for every spare, and lots of giggles for the slow-rolling balls that almost made it. The students showed great sportsmanship, encouraged one another, and most importantly—had SO much fun.

Field trips like these make learning and growing together even more special. Way to roll, second grade! 💙🎉

✨ Get to Know Your Fellow WSD Custodians – PRIME EXAMPLE! ✨

Let’s give a huge shoutout to Josh Kohler, Assistant Head Custodian at Plain City Elementary! Josh has faithfully served in this role for eight years, and this week he truly went above and beyond.

With the Head Custodian out Wednesday through Friday—and no interns available—Josh stepped up in a big way. He ran the day shift, covered part of the evening shift, and kept in constant communication with part-time custodians to ensure all night tasks were completed… even when he wasn’t there.

He could have complained. Instead, he chose leadership. He chose teamwork. He chose to do what was right for students and staff. 💙

That kind of dedication does not go unnoticed. Thank you, Josh, for being a PRIME example of service and commitment! 👏
