I earned a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from Weber State University and then continued on at Weber State to earn my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. For the past ten years, I have taught 3rd through 5th grade, most of that time here at Plain City. I love it here, we have an amazing staff and a fantastic community that we get to be a part of, but mostly, I love teaching 5th grade! I enjoy teaching all subjects, but I love teaching writing! I enjoy seeing the growth students show each year as they develop their own voice. I also feel passionate about creating a community or “Crew” within my classroom where students feel safe as they learn and grow!

My family is the most important thing to me. I am married to my best friend (who also teaches in the community - at Fremont High School) and we have 6 wonderful children and 8 grandchildren. I love traveling, camping (only in my trailer), hiking, cooking, and reading a good book, but most of all, I love spending time with my family! We enjoy exploring national parks, going to the beach, spending time in the mountains, and riding roller coasters!

Mrs. Simonsen & her family love soccer!

I began my teaching journey at Plain City Elementary and chose to make it my home! Every moment in the classroom has been a joy. Holding both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, I am passionate about creating a learning environment where every child feels valued, heard, and supported. While I enjoy teaching all subjects, I have a particular love for math and U.S. History.

I have four children (two of whom are married, so I’m fortunate to have two bonus children) and one adorable granddaughter. Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my family. We’re huge soccer fans, and I still try to get in a game now and then! I enjoy hiking, reading a good book, playing sports, and exploring new places with my husband and family. And, of course, I can never resist pizza, Coke Zero, and chocolate!

Mrs. Talbot enjoys baseball games with her family.

Hello! My name is Anita Talbot. I’ve loved teaching at Plain City Elementary for the past 20 years.  I spent 15 wonderful years teaching 4th grade and have been enjoying teaching 5th grade ever since.  I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Weber State University and later went on to get my Master’s degree from Utah State University.

Family is everything to me! I have a wonderful husband and three amazing children. We are a baseball-loving family, and our favorite team is the Atlanta Braves! One of our favorite things to do is take vacations to different baseball stadiums around the country to watch the Braves play.  I love going to sporting events, playing pickleball, cheering for BYU, baking, and planning family get-togethers.

I love getting to know my students and building strong relationships with them. I’m always looking for fun and challenging ways to make learning exciting. Watching my students grow, explore, and enjoy learning is the best part of my job!
