IHS PBIS Coin Rewards

Students at Innovation High now have a new way to be recognized for their positive behavior through the newly implemented Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. Designed to promote the school’s core values—Rigor, Resilience, and Relationships—the program encourages students to demonstrate these qualities in their daily interactions.

Teachers distribute Raven Coins to students who exemplify these values, whether through academic effort, perseverance, or acts of kindness. These coins can be spent at the school store on snacks, drinks, and school swag, including T-shirts and a “hat bar.”

In addition to immediate rewards, students who collect Raven Coins are entered into a drawing for larger prizes. Some of these prizes include gift cards to local businesses like Fizz, with more rewards yet to be announced.

One teacher involved in the program shared examples of how students have earned their coins. "I've given them out to students who go above and beyond in their learning, like bringing in their own project ideas. Another student, who’s balancing a heavy load of college courses, received one for showing incredible rigor," the teacher explained. "I've also rewarded a student for maintaining a positive attitude despite personal challenges, recognizing her resilience."

Teachers have noted that most coins have been awarded for students demonstrating strong relationships—helping others, showing kindness, and fostering a positive school environment.

By clearly defining behavioral expectations and rewarding positive actions, the PBIS program aims to create a more engaged and supportive school culture. As the program grows, more students will have the opportunity to earn and redeem Raven Coins, reinforcing the importance of rigor, resilience, and relationships in their education and beyond.
