This year, Miss Steele’s class hasn't just been reading about the world; we’ve been out there experiencing it. Our year has been one of discovery, where we’ve immersed ourselves in vibrant cultures and art forms, like attending the LEAP festival. We’ve also turned into environmental experts by hosting guest speakers who taught us the secrets of our local ecosystems and wildlife. We’ve sharpened our storytelling skills with the help of visiting writers who coached us through writing our own personal narratives/experiences. From collaborative projects and guest speakers to celebrating our unique backgrounds, every moment has been about building unforgettable experiences together. We aren't just students; we are explorers, creators, and a class family of learners making every last elementary experience count!

Our amazing students, staff, and families came together to participate in a local 5K—and what an incredible day it was! From start to finish, our school community showed determination, teamwork, and tons of school spirit.

Whether they ran, walked, or cheered from the sidelines, everyone played a part in making this event so special. We’re so proud of our students for setting goals, staying active, and supporting one another every step of the way.

A big thank you to everyone who helped organize and support this event. We love seeing our school community come together outside the classroom! Thank you, Golden West Credit Union, for sponsoring the "5k Run for Schools"!

Our students had the incredible opportunity to attend a live ballet assembly, where they experienced the beauty, discipline, and storytelling of dance up close. From graceful movements to captivating music, the performance sparked curiosity and excitement in every grade level.

A huge thank you to the talented Ballet West Company for inspiring our students and bringing the arts to life right here in our gym. Moments like these remind us how powerful creativity and expression can be in education. 💫

We hope this experience encourages our students to keep exploring the arts and dreaming big!

Fourth grade spent the 3rd quarter researching someone they believe to be a leader. They wrote reports, made posters, and presented a wax museum to their friends and family. It was a wonderful afternoon, and all of our students worked so hard at becoming the person they chose to research.

Ms. Casperson’s first-grade class kicked March off by celebrating Read Across America Week. They read a fun picture book and did a coordinating activity each day. Now they are reading about fearless women to celebrate Women’s History Month. The Bear River Bird Refuge came and presented to the whole first grade. They learned about unique bird characteristics. They are working on their math fluency. They can build numbers with base ten blocks with confidence!

We have had a student teacher in our 2nd-grade class for the last few months. Her name is Mrs. Roper. She has been doing lots of fun things with us to help us learn. Here are some of the things we do during her lessons.
In science, we have been learning about erosion. Here we are filling out our science papers with ideas about what we think caused erosion in the pictures we were looking at.
In phonics, we have learned about different sounds in words. In these pictures, you can see how awesome we are at marking words to show what sounds they make.
In reading, we have been learning our vocabulary words. Mrs. Roper helps us remember the meaning of these words by coming up with actions. Here are some of the actions we did with our new vocabulary words this week.

🦷✨ SMILES ARE SHINING BRIGHT IN 1ST GRADE! ✨🦷

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, and our 1st graders are flashing their biggest, brightest smiles! 😁💙

We were so lucky to have our amazing school nurse, Ms. Mines, visit our classroom to teach us all about keeping our teeth healthy and strong! 🪥🦷

Here’s what our little smile superstars learned:
✨ Brush twice a day for two whole minutes
✨ Don’t forget to floss
✨ Choose healthy snacks that help our teeth
✨ Visit the dentist regularly
✨ Sugar bugs are NOT our friends!

The excitement was contagious as students practiced proper brushing techniques and asked fantastic questions about how to keep their smiles sparkling. 🌟

Healthy habits start young, and we are so proud of our 1st graders for taking responsibility for their teeth. Because confident smiles = confident learners! 💙

Keep brushing, keep smiling, and keep shining! ✨🪥

🌟❄️ BIG NEWS from Our Amazing 1st Graders! ❄️🌟

Our little champions are celebrating the spirit of the 2026 Winter Olympics in the most heart-warming way! 🏅✨

This month, our 1st-grade superstars were:
⛷️ Learning about winter sports from around the world
🌎 Exploring different countries and teamwork
🥇 Setting “personal best” goals in kindness, effort, and friendship

We may not be in the snow, but the excitement in our hallways is GOLD MEDAL worthy! 🥇

At just six and seven years old, our students are discovering that the Olympics aren’t just about winning — they’re about:
🤝 Teamwork
💙 Respect
💪 Perseverance
⭐ Trying your best

We are so proud of our young athletes-in-training as they practice good sportsmanship, cheer each other on, and learn that every effort counts.

The first graders in Mrs. Worton's class were working those brains before the Valentine's Day fun began! ♥️

This week, our amazing first-grade class dove into measurement- comparing lengths, and talking like little mathematicians. They are also learning to add and subtract teen numbers quickly in their head. We are so proud of how hard they work and encourage one another along the way. This is a kind, generous, joyful group of learners who cheer each other on.

After putting in their best effort, they enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day together- sharing smiles, friendship, and lots of sweet moments.

Way to go, first grade! We love learning with you!

This year, Roosevelt Elementary participated in the Weber School District Storytelling Festival. Students either recited an original story or a classic fairytale for 3 minutes. Our top two students were invited to the District Final at Roy High School on Feb. 2, 2026, where they performed along with 45 other students from across the district. While we didn't make it to the Weber State storytelling festival, we are so proud of our students and how amazing their stories were!
