Roy High School construction classes recently built seven Little Libraries for local elementary and junior high schools connected to the Roy High community. This project gave students the opportunity to build, paint, and construct something that will last for years to come while also helping promote literacy throughout the community.
The Little Libraries were provided to Roy Junior High, Sandridge Junior High, North Park Elementary, Valley View Elementary, and West Haven Elementary. Additional libraries were also used to benefit the community, with one becoming a food pantry for Riverdale Elementary and another being sold to a local teacher to be used as a neighborhood Little Library.
Thank you to the Weber Foundation for their generous donation that helped make this project possible. Thank you as well to Rebecca Sagers and Brenda Hart for their help and support, along with all the elementary and junior high schools that participated.
A special thank you to Kenny Hokanson, who led this project and has dedicated many years to supporting Roy High students and the community. As he retires, we appreciate the lasting positive impact he has made through his teaching.
Well done Royals!
