Here is a look at what’s happening across our district:

Elevating Early Literacy: A Big Win for Our K–3 Readers

Reading is the foundation of all future learning, and Weber School District is rolling out an ambitious action plan to ensure every young reader gets the exact support they need under Utah’s Senate Bill 241 guidelines.

To help our kindergarten through 3rd-grade students reach their full potential, we are taking bold steps:

  • 31 New Literacy Aides: We have hired a dedicated literacy aide for every single elementary school in the district, supported by three regional literacy coaches. These team members work directly with students and assist our incredible teachers in the classroom.

  • Individualized Reading Plans (IRPs): Any student reading below benchmark will receive a tailored reading plan focused on their specific strengths and growth areas.

  • Smart Data Systems: Our tech team developed an automated digital tracking system so a student’s reading plan moves with them seamlessly from grade to grade or school to school.

Honoring the Heart of Our Community: Teen Centers & Food Pantries

Our high school Teen Centers and campus food pantries provide critical basic-needs resources—like food, hygiene products, and school supplies—to ensure every student comes to class ready to learn.

At the meeting, the Board reviewed a formal naming resolution to officially name these vital facilities while celebrating the generous local donors and community partners whose contributions make them possible. We are profoundly grateful for a community that wraps its arms around our 30,000 students!

Diving Into the Superintendency's Reading Program

Finally, the district officially unveiled the book selections for this year’s Superintendency Reading Program! This annual initiative invites students across all 51 of our schools to dive into inspiring stories, track their progress, and build a lifelong love for reading. Be on the lookout for book titles and reading challenge details coming home with your students soon!

Thank You, WSD Family! None of these achievements happen without the dedication of our classroom teachers, support staff, school leaders, and community partners. Thank you for working tirelessly every day to make Weber School District an extraordinary place to learn, grow, and thrive.
