At Weber School District, we often say it takes a village to raise a child. If that’s the case, Sharon Bolos is a cornerstone of ours. For over two decades, Sharon has been a familiar, friendly face in our hallways, proving that the impact of a dedicated volunteer doesn't just last for a school year—it lasts for generations.
A Legacy That Started at Home
Sharon’s journey with WSD began just like many others: as a mom wanting to support her children. She started volunteering at Kanesville Elementary when her own six children were students. But while most move on once their youngest graduates, Sharon’s passion for student success kept her right where she was needed most—in the classroom.
Today, that legacy continues at Freedom Elementary, where Sharon now spends her time volunteering in the classrooms of her three grandchildren. From Kanesville to Country View and now Freedom, her footprint is felt across our entire district community.
Small Acts, Life-Changing Impact
What makes Sharon "like having an extra teacher," as one faculty member described her? It’s the consistency and the personal touches that make every student feel seen.
The Friday Milestone: Every Friday, you’ll find Sharon diligently testing students on their common words, providing the one-on-one attention that helps literacy skills soar.
The Power of a Post-it: When a student hits a reading goal, they often find an encouraging sticky note from Sharon left on their desk—a small token that builds immense confidence.
Holiday Magic: Whether it's Valentine’s treats or her famous "mummy" chocolates at Halloween, Sharon ensures that school is a place of joy and celebration for every child.
"There is a Place for Everyone"
Sharon’s message to the community is simple: You are needed. She firmly believes that there is a volunteer opportunity for everyone within an elementary school, regardless of their background or how much time they have to give.
Whether it’s an hour a week or helping with a single special event, your presence can change the trajectory of a child's educational experience.
Thank You, Sharon!
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Sharon Bolos for her 20+ years of tireless service. You aren't just a volunteer; you are a champion for our students and a shining example of what makes the Weber School District family so special.
