I Love Teaching Award thumbnail

The atmosphere at the most recent Weber School District Board Meeting was one of deep gratitude and celebration as the district recognized Brent Ludlow, a standout educator at Orchard Springs Elementary, with the prestigious “I Love Teaching” Award.

The award, which honors educators who demonstrate exceptional heart, innovation, and dedication, was presented following a moving video tribute featuring colleagues and students who describe Ludlow as much more than just an instructor—he is a mentor, a tech expert, and a cornerstone of the school community.

Building a Culture of Belonging

For the students in Mr. Ludlow’s classroom, his impact is felt long before the first lesson begins. Students shared that his number one priority is ensuring every child feels safe and "at home" while at school.

"When I'm with Mr. Ludlow, I feel like I belong," one student shared. "He checks on each and every student to make sure everyone is okay. It makes us feel a lot safer."

Beyond the emotional support, Ludlow is known for a high-energy teaching style—often using humor and his famous "No, no, no, no!" catchphrase to keep his class engaged. His structured environment and high expectations are paying off; parents frequently report that their children transition to junior high with a level of preparation that sets them apart from their peers.

The "Master Designer" of Success

While his students see a funny and caring mentor, his colleagues see a "teacher’s teacher." Ludlow’s influence extends far beyond his own classroom walls. As an EdTech coach and a tech expert, he has become the go-to resource for staff navigating the digital landscape.

"He is probably the most collaborative teacher I’ve ever worked with," said one colleague. "He is generous to a fault, designing and creating resources and then sharing them with all of us."

Ludlow is also credited as the "master designer" of the school’s website, creating a digital hub that has seen a massive increase in traffic due to its usefulness for parents and students alike.

A Well-Deserved Milestone

Whether he is dropping everything to help a fellow teacher with a technical glitch or encouraging a student’s love for reading, Brent Ludlow embodies the values of the Weber School District.

"I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award," a fellow teacher remarked. "It is so well-deserved after years and years of dedication."

As we celebrate Brent’s achievement, we are reminded of the incredible power one teacher has to change the trajectory of a student’s life. Congratulations, Mr. Ludlow!
