Last night’s Board of Education meeting was a testament to the incredible people who make Weber School District amazing. We had a packed agenda celebrating state-level awards, decades of service, and community partnerships.
Here are the highlights from the evening:
🎶 Musical Excellence: The night began with holiday spirit courtesy of the Roy High School Chamber Choir. Under the direction of Shannon Sowby, they performed beautiful renditions of "Away in a Manger" and "Swingin' with Santa Claus."
🏆 Statewide Recognition: We are incredibly proud to announce that our very own Lori Browne was honored as the Utah Association of Secondary School Principals' Secretary of the Year! Lori is the glue that holds our secondary team together, and this state-level recognition is well-deserved.
🤝 Community Partners: A huge thank you to John Watson Chevrolet for receiving the Partners in Education Award. From supporting athletics, parades, dances to clubs, they have supported our students and schools for years.
🌟 Going the Extra Mile: The Extra Mile Award was presented to DiAne Morin, Head Administrative Assistant at Roy Junior High. With 38 years of dedication, it was said last night that DiAne is the heart of Roy Junior!
🐴 School Spotlight: Principal Mary Heslop showcased the amazing culture at Country View Elementary. From their "Leader in Me" Lighthouse status pursuit to their focus on student recognition and staff self-care, the Colts are doing great things!
Congratulations to all our honorees!
