The Weber School District Board Meeting was filled with inspiring performances, well-deserved recognitions, and some exciting news!
The meeting began with a beautiful musical performance by the North Ogden Jr. High Chamber Orchestra, directed by Jessica Graham, who played "Fantasy on a Theme from Thailand."
The board then recognized several outstanding individuals and groups:
Roxie Sianez from the District Office was celebrated as the UASSP Administrative Assistant of the Year, presented by Dave Hales and Kirt Swalberg.
Becky McKinney of Weber High School was recognized as a State Finalist for the PAEST Award, presented by Ryan Kachold.
The WOW (Women of Weber) Conference Student Organizers and DECA State Champions from Weber High School – Kaitlyn Bonnett, Brighten Braegger, and Ellisyn Fidler – were honored, presented by Rod Belnap.
Seven talented students – Leo Carhuaricra, Jaden Cuartelon, Miriam Jensen, Xander Clark, Gabriela Dasni, Payten Gibson, and Cole Neider – were recognized as Do the Write Thing Essay State Finalists, presented by Kim Irvine.
The WSD First Year Teacher Award was presented to three exceptional educators: Jade Harlan from Riverdale Elementary School (presented by Kirt Swalberg), Amanda Petersen from Bonneville High School (presented by Matt Williams), and Bowe Behymer from Bonneville High School (presented by Juliana Woodbury).
Rod Wayment from Canyon View School was celebrated as the WSD Classified Employee of the Year 2025, presented by Assistant Superintendent Dave Hales.
Finally, the prestigious WSD Teacher of the Year 2025 award was presented to Arne Erisoty from Fremont High School by Assistant Superintendent Clyde Moore.
In other news, the board formally announced and endorsed the hiring of Nicki Slaugh! Nicki, a proud Fremont High graduate with 23 years of experience and a nationally recognized innovative leader, will serve in a dual role as Principal of Weber Innovation High School and Director of Personalized Competency-Based Learning. We are thrilled to welcome her back to the Weber School District and look forward to the incredible vision and expertise she brings to our students and staff.
