Student performer

The heart of Weber School District was on full display during our April Board Meeting. From the captivating stories of our youngest learners to the bittersweet farewells of seasoned legends, the evening was a powerful reminder of the impact our educators and staff have on the lives of 30,000 students every day.

A Voice That Captivates: Student Storytelling

The meeting kicked off with a departure from our usual musical performance, and the room was instantly mesmerized. Emma Ashby from Valley Elementary took the stage for a "Student Storytelling" presentation. With incredible poise and confidence, Emma reminded every board member and guest exactly why we do what we do: to provide our students with the tools and the courage to share their unique voices with the world.

Going the Extra Mile: Serena Hawes

We were thrilled to present the Extra Mile Award to Serena Hawes, the dedicated Bookkeeper at Weber Adult Education. Often referred to as "the face of Weber Adult Ed," Serena is a rock for students who are often navigating difficult paths. This past year, she personally helped 72 students achieve their GEDs. Serena proves that kindness isn't just a trait—it’s a bridge to a brighter future.

Honoring 179 Years of Excellence

In a deeply moving tribute, Superintendent Butters honored six legendary educators retiring this year. Together, these leaders represent 179 years of expertise, compassion, and unwavering commitment to Weber students.

  • Clyde Moore (Assistant Superintendent): A pillar of integrity with 42 years in education. Whether at Roy High or the District Office, Clyde has been the ultimate teammate.

  • Brett Craynor (Principal, Wahlquist Jr. High): After 30 years—18 of them at Wahlquist—this "math guy" and master problem-solver is heading to the red dirt of Southern Utah.

  • Hal Raymond (Asst. Principal, Fremont High): A digital learning pioneer who founded Weber Online, Hal spent 26 years championing personalized education.

  • Becky Dills (Principal, Municipal Elementary): Following 30 years of heartfelt service, Becky is traded school bells for her flower garden and favorite campsites.

  • Karen Miller (Principal, Orchard Springs Elementary): With 26 years of experience, Karen noted that there is no better way to end a career than with the smiles and hugs of her students.

  • Stacy Rountree (Principal, Lakeview Elementary): A 25-year veteran and behavior expert, Stacy is trading school halls for hiking trails and new adventures.
